1 KAIYU (Stroll Garden)
Across the little stone bridge you enter the woodland part of the garden. This is a Stroll Garden, developed in the 17th century to combine the three basic Japanese styles.... the Water and Rock garden, the Zen Garden, and the Tea Garden.
A Japanese Lantern, Kakudai Kaku, stands just over the bridge to light your way.
4 ARARE KUZUSHI (Stone Pavement)
The stone pavement leading to the Tea Garden has a number of irregular and uncomfortable steps to slow down the visitor and lead on to the TOBIISHI (Flying Stones) and cobbles of the ROJI (Dewy Path) where each step must be taken carefully and slowly. Only at the end can the visitor relax and look up to get the view of the Tea Garden itself.
