Tips on planting Japanese Maples

Acer palmatum

'Shigitatsu Sawa'

'Snipe, quacking, fly up from the swamp'

Zone 6

(Europe 7)

The leaf has a network of prominently coloured green veins with light yellow/green interspaces, very noticeable in spring or early summer

In autumn the colouration changes to a red, or rich red/green, quite different from other cultivars

Can grow to about 4 meters

These pictures show the different colours of this plant at varying times of the year

REMEMBER that all Japanese Maples prefer a slightly acid well drained soil with a constant moisture content.
