Tips on growing Japanese Maples from seed

Tips on planting Japanese Maples

Acer palmatum

'Shaina'

Zone 6

(Europe 7)

Shaina is an excellent dwarf growing red Japanese maple. It is reputed to have originated as a sport of the very popular ‘Bloodgood’ Japanese maple

The growth habit is upright and compact to 5’ in ten years, with lots of twiggy growth giving the branches a tufted look

The narrow pointed leaves are two-toned with bright red contrasting with dark red leaves.

These pictures show the different colours of this plant during varying times of the year

REMEMBER that all Japanese Maples prefer a slightly acid well drained soil with a constant moisture content.
